The American Society of Gene and Cell Therapy (ASGCT) is a professional membership organization for scientists, physicians, patient advocates, and other professionals in gene and cell therapy, working in settings such as universities, hospitals, and biotechnology companies.
Patient Outreach Program Goals:
One of ASGCT’s priorities is to be a trusted source of information on the science, technology, and use of gene and cell therapy. With the growing amount of research, approved therapies, and clinical trials in the gene and cell therapy field, there is a continued need to educate and connect communities with resources as they progress in their discovery of gene and cell treatments. The volunteer members serving on the Patient Outreach Committee provide their professional expertise and guide the program toward the following goals:
-
Be the primary resource for accessible educational content on gene and cell therapy that is timely, accurate, and conscious of clear communication best practices.
-
Facilitate opportunities for patient communities to engage among gene and cell therapy stakeholders to foster advances for disease treatments.
-
Provide thought leadership on communicating gene and cell therapy concepts and addressing educational gaps and needs in a rapidly evolving field.
ASGCT collaborates with patient advocacy groups to make sure the information here is clear and useful to patients and their families. And the members of the ASGCT Patient Outreach Committee share their expertise in the field to provide scientific accuracy.
